What Runway is good at
Runway's strength is that it treats video as something you work on, not just something you order. Gen-4 Turbo turns a single image into a moving shot quickly and cheaply, which makes it the natural partner for an image model: design the frame in FLUX or Nano Banana, then bring it to life here. Gen-4.5, Runway's best model, works from text and handles camera movement and physical detail with more care.
Aleph 2 is the part people tend not to expect. Give it a clip of up to ten seconds and a description, and it re-renders the footage in a new look: daylight to dusk, live action to clay animation, a plain street to a rain-soaked one. The motion of the original stays; the world around it changes. When a clip is right but small, the 4x upscale makes it sharper without regenerating it.

Prices scale with length. Gen-4 Turbo is the gentlest on a Starter balance (300 tokens for 5 seconds out of 1,000 a month); Aleph 2 and Veo 3.1 are better suited to Pro's 5,700 tokens or a top-up. Turning sound off on Veo 3.1 halves its price (1,920 tokens for 8 seconds). Failed videos are refunded.

Getting better results
- 01Gen-4 Turbo follows the image more than the words. Describe the motion and camera, not what's already in the picture.
- 02For Aleph 2 and upscaling, pick a length at least as long as your clip. Both take up to ten seconds, so trim longer footage first.
- 03Reuse a seed in image to video or restyle when you like the feel of a result and want a close variation.
- 04Generate at 5 seconds first. A 10-second Gen-4.5 clip costs twice as much (1,440 tokens), so confirm the look before you go long.
