Quick Tips

Keep it under 20 seconds. Nobody wants to wait through a long greeting.

Say your business name. People want to know they called the right number.

Give a timeframe. "We'll call back within 24 hours" is way better than "as soon as possible."

Example Scripts

Copy/paste any of these:

Basic: "Thanks for calling [Your Company]. Leave your name and number and we'll get back to you today."

After hours: "You've reached [Your Company]. We're open 9 to 5, Monday through Friday. Leave a message and we'll call you back next business day."

Out of office: "Hi, this is [Name]. I'm out until [date]. For urgent stuff, email me at [email]. Otherwise leave a message."

Uploading It

Once you have the MP3:

• iPhone: Phone app → Voicemail → Greeting → Custom
• Android: Phone app → Settings → Voicemail
• Google Voice: voice.google.com → Settings → Voicemail greeting
• Business phones (RingCentral, Grasshopper, etc.): Usually there's an "upload greeting" option in the dashboard
